FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Help Files

If you want to use your web site for posting audio files, video files or other large files, you may want to contact FWS about setting up an FTP site.  While the FWS system does allow you to upload files, it can become very expensive if you require alot of server space.  Using an FTP account is a very inexpensive way to add many large files to your site.  Once you have your FTP account set up, you can use the video files below FTP files and then link to them.  We recommend the following steps:

  1. Install and set up an FTP software link FTP Commander.  (one-time process)
  2. FTP your audio files to your FTP server using FTP Commander.  (regular process)
  3. Link to your audio files from your web site.  (regular process)
What software should I use to FTP my files to the FTP server?
There are several options for FTP-ing files. Many web site admins like to just FTP to another server using Internet Explorer (or any other web browser). This works most of the time but can be inconsistent. At Faithwebsites, we recommend that you use a FREE software called FTP Commander. It takes a few minutes to set it up, but once this is completed, FTP is very easy to do from that point forward!
