Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. Web crawlers usually discover pages from links within the site and from other sites. Sitemaps supplement this data to allow crawlers that support Sitemaps to pick up all URLs in the Sitemap and learn about those URLs using the associated metadata.

You can submit your sitemap to Google and Yahoo through links within your Faithwebsites admin site. Here's how:

Submitting a Sitemap to Google

• Log into your admin site, go to the Navigation Builder Home
  
• Click the sitemap.xml link on top right of page
  
• Click the www.google.com/webmasters/ link
  
• Log into your google acct or create a new one
  
• Click the “Add a Site” link
  
• Enter the URL of your site as shown (ie. www.domainname.com) and click Continue
  
• For Verification Method, choose “Meta tag” if it isn’t already selected
  
• Highlight the small text inside the Meta tag box and copy it
  
• Keep that window/tab open.
  
  
• Go back to your FWS admin site window/tab
  
• Go to the Navigation Builder Home
  
• Click the “Update” link for the Home Page
  
• Click the red link “Click Here for Advanced Settings”
  
• Go down to “Head Tag Extras” and paste your Meta tag code into that box
  
• Click Update.
  
  
• Go back to your Google Webmasters tools window and click the Verify button.

Submitting a Sitemap to Yahoo

• Log into your admin site, go to the Navigation Builder Home
• Click the sitemap.xml link on top right of page
  
• Click the siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ link
  
• Log into your Yahoo acct or create a new one
  
• Enter the URL of site as shown (ie. www.domainname.com) and click Add My Site
  
• Click the yellow circle in the “Status” column for your new site to authenticate it
  
• Under “How would you like to authenticate” choose “By adding a Meta tag to my home page” and highlight/copy the code ie. <META name="y_key" content="0d79a58777878fce">
  
• Keep that window/tab open.
  
  
• Go back to your FWS admin site window/tab
  
• Go to the Navigation Builder Home
  
• Click the “Update” link for the Home Page
  
• Click the red link “Click Here for Advanced Settings”
  
• Go down to “Head Tag Extras” and paste your Meta tag code into that box
  
• Click Update.
• Go back to your Yahoo Site Explorer window and click the Ready to Authenticate button.
